OCPRSA and Cal State Fullerton Help Nonprofits Engage Audiences Online at Social Media Workshop

Over 70 nonprofit and communications professionals came to Cal State Fullerton’s Summer School for Nonprofits on July 17 to participate in an insightful workshop on utilizing social media to build communities. Author, blogger and social media strategist Denise Shiffman spoke about strategies for building a successful following via social networking sites. Shiffman was followed by Erin Mischak from Court Appointed Specail Advocates (CASA) Orange County, who shared the how-to of her organization’s success raising more than $60,000 through a web campaign. Attendees also heard from Cindy Bobruck of the J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center and Rebekah King, social marketing expert, who excitedly discussed how they’ve expanded awareness and support of the work of the J.F. Shea Center through a Facebook fan page.
