Social Media Policies and Procedures:
What Your Company Should Know!
The time to think about drafting a social media policy for your company is now! Social media networks like Twitter, YouTube and Facebook are growing by leaps and bounds. Social media is quickly moving from an emerging form of communication to the mainstream. Whether your company uses social media or not, your employees already are. Having a social media policy should be as common place as having a crisis communications plan. In most companies, there are procedures when working with the media, why should social media be any different?
Topics include:
- Approvals necessary before using social media
- Legal implications of using social media
- Who responds to conversations about your organization and how?
- How do you protect your brand?
- Can anyone on staff be a spokesperson?
- Which platforms do you get active on, how and when?
- What social media activity is okay to participate in at work, and what's not okay?
