Building Relationships Through More Effective Writing

February 18, 2010

Building Relationships Through More Effective Writing

Writing is an essential skill for communications professionals.  From pitches and press releases to newsletters and tweets, we put our writing skills to the test every day.  But do we really understand the influential role that writing plays in helping us build relationships with our key stakeholders?

An expert in "building relationships" through written communications, Cherie Kerr of KerrPR will offer actionable advice for PR professionals to engage their audiences at every level.  An award-winning journalist, publicist and author, Cherie has managed hundreds of campaigns during her 35-year career in public relations.  During this program, you will learn:
  • Simple guidelines to energize your writing TODAY
  • Why mastering a variety of writing styles is critical to success
  • How to make a “human connection” through written communications
  • How to turn fluff into substance
  • Coping through the re-write process with clients
  • E-mail etiquette and power point pointers

Members Only: Pitch Critique Roundtable
Orange County PRSA members in good standing have an exclusive opportunity to participate in a pre-program roundtable session with Cherie, who will provide personalized feedback on your written pitch.  Space is very limited, so register for the February luncheon today and then contact programs@ocprsa.org to RSVP for the Pitch Critique Roundtable.  Members will be admitted on a first come, first served basis and additional details will be provided to those admitted.
