Bobby McDonald is president and executive director of the Black Chamber of Commerce of Orange County, a founder of the Orange County President’s Council and a founding member of the Orange County Sports Hall of Fame.

Under his leadership, the Black Chamber of Commerce of Orange County has partnered consistently with minority business associations, local chambers and legislators to provide support for the county’s many small-business owners. McDonald developed the Chamber’s educational outreach programs, including the Bricks and Bridges program and the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Program with Christ Our Redeemer AME Church in Irvine, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Volunteer Center of Orange County.

McDonald also chairs the city of Anaheim’s Housing and Community Development Commission. His many honors include the Human Relations Leadership Award from the Orange County Human Relations Commission, being named the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Millennial Man of the Year and Distinguished Alumnus Award from Cal State Fullerton, where he has been president of the CSUF Alumni Association. He later served as president of the CSU Statewide Alumni Council.

McDonald is also a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran, a former Student Body President at Los Angeles Harbor College and is a member of the California Cultural Historical Endowment Board and one of the 17 member State Board of Governors of the California Community College System.

Larry Fortmuller (Photo Not Available)

Larry Fortmuller is an active volunteer PIO for the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He also serves as Chair of the Chapter's Volunteer Advisory Council and is a member of the Chapter's Leadership Council. 

On a national level, Larry is a member of the Advanced Public Affairs Team, which provides rapid response PA services for the Red Cross during major national emergencies. He has served during the recent Los Angeles fires, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Ike, and many other local and national disasters.

As part of his participation with "Keeping Diversity Top of Mind in Crises," Larry will outline the Red Cross Disaster Services mission, the role of Red Cross PIOs and provide an overview of the Red Cross response in Haiti. He will share some of his experiences as a Red Cross volunteer PIO for the past six years and will focus on to the challenges of maintaining cultural sensitivity in crisis communications.

Police Chief ValentinDavid Valentin

As Chief of School Police for the Santa Ana Unified School (SAUSD), David Valentin leads a 74-member police force responsible for safety and security for the largest school district in Orange County . Valentin has nearly 20 years of law enforcement experience, primarily acquired with the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD). Previous to joining the school district, he served as an SAPD police commander/acting deputy chief of the Administration Bureau and Human Resources Division. Other assignments over the course of his career included lieutenant of field operations where he supervised six patrol sergeants and 41 police officers; Chairman of the Shooting Review Board, police sergeant in Professional Standards (Internal Affairs), patrol sergeant, police corporal where he led an investigative section in the Crimes Against Persons Division; and gang detail investigator during which he was a patrol officer.

Valentin received an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Santa Ana College in 1992, where he recently was honored with a distinguished alumni award from the Community College League of California. He was one of only five in Orange County to receive the award, which honors individuals who are "accomplished professionals and contributing citizens of their communities." In 2008, Valentin was inducted into the Santa Ana College Alumni Hall of Fame in recognition of his "documented distinction and achievement through professional and/or personal efforts since leaving Santa Ana College."

He received both his Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Public Administration degree from California State University , Fullerton . Valentin is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, California Peace Officer Standards and Training Command College and the WestPoint Leadership Program.
