Top Tips from O.C.’s PR Leaders

Tenacity is important in this industry. Never give up and keep working towards your goals.
-- Katie Coates Ageson, APR

Always stay young at heart. Use your knowledge of Web 2.0 and social networking to position yourself as a valuable PR professional. You will need to learn about all aspects of marketing as you grow in your career. Writing is an important skill. Find a mentor who help you become a better writer.
-- Daniel Rhodes

Go with your gut. Find opportunities to work on projects that you believe in and stick to your convictions. Make sure to maintain balance in your life.
-- Leisa Brug Kline

Do what you feel good about and be passionate about your job. Find a niche you enjoy and don't jump around from job to job every year. Keep coming to OC/PRSA events because they will help you learn and network.
-- Jenny Wedge

Don't be afraid to say no. Your job is also to educate your clients or company about public relations, so maintain your role as an expert advisor. Find your target publics and be sure to utilize other measurement tactics such as evaluating Web hits, sales and more.
