                           Applauding Diversity in 2011...

OC/PRSA Diversity is on an amazing journey. We have reached our goal of earning the 2011 National Chapter Diversity Award for outstanding efforts in advancing diversity initiatives - a priority of PRSA. Aiding us in the journey included a number of members and volunteers who have helped to contribute to our award-winning results. Below is a snapshot of major accomplishments:
  • Kept OC/PRSA and diversity on the national map with a “Trending Topics” diversity entry in the January 2011 PR Tactics.
  • Black History Month awareness spotlight (In Box chapter feature)
  • Attended the Orange County Black Chamber Education Fund Reception where we presented a $250 scholarship award to a deserving minority communications major
  • Hosted “Networking with HR Execs - What Diverse Candidates need to know in the Digital Age" workshop – March 23
  • Shared a host of diversity related articles, blogs and white papers, and diversity job opportunities with membership
  • Promoted and participated in Hispanicize PR and Social Media Conference in Hollywood April 6-8
  • Hosted the chapter’s May monthly program in concert with our 7th Annual Diversity Conference “Census 2010 Changes the Landscape: PR & Marketing Strategies for a New America” – May 19
  • Provided opportunities for recent college graduates and volunteers to gain experience and exposure in event planning and networking opportunities
  • Nominated member Laarni Dacanay, named the 2011 Distinguished Service Award Recipient!

Much gratitude is extended to the many members, friends and supporters, without whom we could not have accomplished as much as we have in our seven years of existence. Email us with any questions, comments, ideas or to say "hello."
