Basic Qualifications / General Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience managing communications programs, preferably in a corporate setting; experience developing a variety of employee communications plans that might include elements such as print, electronic and other components or similar public relations and/or marketing communications programs. The successful candidate will already possess the following skills, abilities, knowledge and experience as listed: write quickly, accurately and creatively; develop and execute communications plans for major initiatives and/or complex issues; develop and deliver strategic presentations to clients including senior executives; manage multiple employee events from start to finish, including coordinating logistics and measurement of results; apply a team orientation along with the ability to work independently; provide strategic communications counsel to clients, evaluating client needs, making recommendations and implementing them; apply interpersonal skills with experience building client relationships at all levels; handle multiple projects simultaneously from conception through production.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training is required.
Preferred Skills:
A MBA/MA/MS in journalism or communications is preferred. The successful candidate will have experience working with a variety of clients including senior management in a corporate setting, as well as planning and implementing effective multifaceted employee communications campaigns. The candidate also will demonstrate a passion for client service.
Typical Responsibilities:
In conjunction with Corporate Communications senior managers at the San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station (SONGS), the successful candidate is responsible for developing and managing integrated communication strategies for a variety of client programs, products and services. The candidate provides guidance to clients to increases his or her ability to effectively communicate with their workforce, providing information that engages employees and promotes high-quality performance. The successful candidate establishes and maintains key client relationships, as well as provides strategic counsel, including evaluating client needs, developing communications plans, making recommendations and implementing plans. The candidate also is expected to craft executive briefings in preparation for face-to-face meetings and manage multiple employee events. The successful candidate demonstrates strong project management skills, including meeting timelines and budgets and the ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
