Position Details
**Intern, Public Affairs**

SUMMARY
The College Intern Associate will provide assistance to the Public Affairs Department in developing internal communications for the Orange County System and involved in a variety of projects for the department.

Hourly rate: $10.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Media article scanning and archiving
* Creation of a media database
* Assisting with internal publications, including writing and photography
* Assisting with coordination of community relations events and activities
* Special projects to be assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
* Junior or senior in college with a major in Public Relations/Communications preferred.
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
* Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Internet knowledge
* Excellent organization skills, flexibility and ability to multi task
* Well spoken and professional image when representing the company
* Interest in pursuing a career in the field of communications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Junior or senior in college with a major in Public Relations preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with varying issues in an efficient and accurate manner.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Microsoft Office Suite required, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
