J Public Relations' San Diego office is accepting applications for a Director of Publicity. As our office continues to rapidly grow, we’re looking for the “right” candidate, with a strong work ethic, to work on top luxury hospitality and culinary accounts. The ideal candidate should be an enthusiastic PR professional with a proven track record handling high-end travel, hospitality, and lifestyle accounts and for providing clients with top-tier media results locally, regionally and nationally. Considered candidates must be extremely connected with the regional and national media landscape (print, online, broadcast) with a specific focus on travel, culinary, consumer and lifestyle. Candidate must also be an engaged participant in various social media platforms and have experience utilizing these platforms to help generate awareness for clients.

Our ideal Director of Publicity candidate will:

Have a minimum of 7-10 years experience executing effective PR campaigns in the hospitality, culinary, travel, tourism, restaurant and consumer lifestyle arenas, either having worked in an agency or in-house position.

Must have stellar current national hospitality, travel, restaurant, and lifestyle media contacts and references.

Must have extensive experience managing a team consisting of senior and junior level staff members

Must thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

Must possess a passion for seeking out what’s new and notable in the industries we serve

Must be well versed in managing day to day client relations

Must be able to demonstrate past secured press placements and specific account successes

Must have experience coordinating (and attending) press trips for luxury accounts/brands.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of the evolving social media landscape and its impact on PR in addition to familiarity working with online media outlets and managing blogger relations.

Excellent verbal and written skills a must, a creative approach key.

Experience participating in new business pitching.

Possess a personal passion for a job well done.

Believe that hard work will be rewarded and is looking for an agency that believes it too.
