PRSA Names Dennis Gaschen a Fellow Induction is one of the highest individual honors in ProfessionNEW YORK (Aug. 16, 2010) – The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) recently elected Dennis John Gaschen to its College of Fellows.
Gaschen, a public relations consultant and professor at Cal State Fullerton, was one of only 14 PRSA members named to this year’s induction class. Less than two percent of PRSA's 31,000 members are Fellows.
PRSA's College of Fellows was founded in 1990 as a way to recognize individuals who have demonstrated superior capabilities as public relations practitioners or educators. According to the PRSA Bylaws, College of Fellows candidates must have 20 years or more of experience in the public relations industry, and exhibit exceptional personal and professional qualities, while advancing the state of the profession.
"Induction into the PRSA College of Fellows is one of the highest individual honors in our profession," said Judy Phair, APR, Fellow PRSA, and 2010 College of Fellows chair. "We are proud to welcome Dennis into the College -- through his accomplishments, he has left a footprint on his profession, his organization, his community and PRSA."
Gaschen was president of OC/PRSA in 2000. He then was the 2004 Chair for PRSA's Western District. He also served on PRSA's national board in 2007-08.
Gaschen was elected in 2000 to the CSUF's College of Communication's Alumni Wall of Fame. In 2004, he received OC/PRSA's Distinguished Service Award. In 2007, CSUF's Alumni Association named him an "Outstanding Professor." He also was recently named an "Educator of the Year" for 2009-10 by CSUF's Associated Students.
The 2010 Fellows candidates will be inducted Oct. 16, at a ceremony at the PRSA 2010 International Conference in Washington, D.C.
