There's no place like home! The globetrotting PROTOS statue is back in Orange County and still has the travel bug! This week, PROTOS is taking a vacation in our own back yard with visits to Disneyland, Laguna Beach and Mission San Juan Capistrano. After shopping at South Coast Plaza, cheering on the Anaheim Angels and making waves in Surf City, PROTOS is headed for the final stop on this world tour - PASSPORT TO PROTOS 2009 at Rancho Las Lomas!

San Francisco, California

PROTOS Award was here on: 06/15/2009

Greetings from San Francisco! PROTOS is back in California, sightseeing in the city! This traveling statue really knows how to get around, from cable car rides through Chinatown to boat tours to Alcatraz. PROTOS even crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, pictured here. Now, it's off to Union Square and the Embarcadero before catching a flight down to Southern California! The big night is just around the corner!

Alaska, USA

PROTOS Award was here on: 06/08/2009

The roaming PROTOS statue is back in The States and getting closer to home! Touring Alaska by cruise ship, PROTOS captured this photo while in port at Juneau. Even during the warm and sunny summer months, Alaska's snow-capped mountains and scenic glaciers are sights to be seen. So, PROTOS took a helicopter tour of the vast wilderness surrounding Juneau. Next, it's off to visit dog-sledding champs in their off-season summer camp!

Hawaii, USA

PROTOS Award was here on: 06/01/2009

PROTOS is island hopping through a favorite vacation destination of tourists young and old - Aloha from Hawaii! Kicking off this tropical trek in Maui, PROTOS is soaked up the sun and sipped Mai Tais poolisde! After a little relaxation, PROTOS ventured to the Big Island for a submarine tour. In Oahu, PROTOS grabbed a longboard and caught some big waves. Next, it's onto Hawaii's northern-most island of Kauai for deep-sea fishing, and hopefully a feast of seared ahi and pineapple!

Mexico City, Mexico

PROTOS Award was here on: 05/25/2009

Here in Mexico City, the capital of the country, the roaming PROTOS statue is exploring countless museums filled with Aztec artifacts, avant-guard murals and modern works of art. This cultural center has it all! Next on the itinerary is a visit to Zócalo, the city's historic downtown, and shopping for souvenirs at the Cuidadela craft market. This tour stop wouldn't be complete without an exiting soccer game at the Estadio Azteca, and some delicious tamales and tacos al pastor. Hasta luego, amigos!

Rio de Janiero, Brazil

PROTOS Award was here on: 05/18/2009

'Olá' from Brazil! In South America's Portuguese-speaking nation, the roaming PROTOS statue has arrived in A Cidade Maravilhosa ('The Marvelous City'), also known as Rio de Janiero. PROTOS viewed such marvels as Sugarloaf Mountain and the famous 'Cristo Redentor' atop Corcovado Mountain. From dancing the samba to sunbathing on the hotel-lined beaches of Copacabana, PROTOS enjoyed this festive destination and plans to return to Rio next year for Carnival!

Patagonia, Chile

PROTOS Award was here on: 05/11/2009

It's a bit chilly in Chile, or at least in Patagonia where PROTOS has enjoyed stunning natural wonders like the Andes, forests, lakes and glaciers. Since arriving in Chile, PROTOS has learned that the name Patagonia is derived from the word patagon, meaning 'big feet.' Legend has it that Ferdinand Magellan named the land because of the tremendously tall natives he encountered during his exploration. Whatever the case, PROTOS just finished a long hike is ready for a siesta. Buenas noches, amingos!

Johannesburg, South Africa

PROTOS Award was here on: 05/04/2009

Not a dull moment since PROTOS arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa! PROTOS' itinerary includes visits to countless museums, gardens and cultural sites, including Nelson Mandela's former home in Soweto. This city is host to the 2010 FIFA World Cup opening and final matches, so this trip wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Soccer Stadium. Now it's time for a walk on the wild side with a side-trip safari through Kruger National Park . . . here's hoping the lions won't mistake PROTOS for a tasty snack!

Cairo, Egypt

PROTOS Award was here on: 04/27/2009

Fresh from a trip down the Nile, PROTOS has reached 'the triumphant' City of Cairo. With ancient wonders and historical sights, the 'City of a Thousand Minarets' brought on a whirlwind tour amidst the region's desert wind storms! PROTOS visited the Great Sphinx, rode an ATV near the Step Pyramid of Saqqara and saw the largest pyramid on the Giza plateau, the Great Pyramid of Khufu.

Taj Mahal, India

PROTOS Award was here on: 04/20/2009

After traversing through Europe and Asia, OC/PRSA's roaming PROTOS statue has now arrived in India. The globetrotting golden statue snapped this photo at the Taj Mahal, which is visited by several million tourists each year and considered by some one of the 'Seven Wonders of the World.' Highlights of the Taj Mahal tour stop included its Mughal architecture, Persian-inspired charbagh garden, and the domed marble mausoleum.

Beijing, China

PROTOS Award was here on: 04/13/2009

PROTOS has soared east and landed in Beijing. Dodging all of the bicycles has taken some serious maneuvering, but the city's most spectacular sights are worth the while! PROTOS Made tour stops at Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City and The Great Wall, where the globetrotting statue snapped this photo. No trip to Beijing following the 2009 Olympics would be complete without a trip to the Bird's Nest stadium - a magnificent feat of architecture, but whose luster still can't top OC's brilliant PROTOS statue! See you later!

Moscow, Russia

PROTOS Award was here on: 04/06/2009

With temperatures on the rise and winter melting away, the roaming PROTOS statue has arrived in Moscow. After visiting Red Square to snap a photo in front of St. Basil Cathedral, PROTOS went for a stroll around the Garden of Fallen Monuments to check out some fellow statues. Always up for a fun night out on the town, PROTOS also headed to New Arbat Street to sample some of Moscow's super chic clubs!

Rome, Italy

PROTOS Award was here on: 03/30/2009

Ciao! PROTOS has made its way to the third-most-visited tourist destination in the European Union, Italy's capital city of Rome. After a side-trip to Siciliy for some cannoli and a wine tour across Tuscany, PROTOS is enjoying la dolce vita ('the sweet life') with (what else?) some delicious gelato! From the Colosseum and the Roman Forum to piazzas and palazzos, Rome offers an array of sights to be seen! Andiamo!
