Case Study Event

How Communicators Can Leverage Research to Secure Meaningful Coverage and Generate Consumer Awareness

OCPRSA will host a Case Study Event: Turning Data into Actionable Information, presented by John Novaria, Principal of Novaria Communication. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, March 30 at 6:00 P.M. PST.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) recently published its 2020 Risk Report, showing a surge in online scams during the pandemic as lockdowns forced people indoors and onto their devices 24/7. John worked with his client, the BBB, to educate consumers, prevent further abuse and provide clarity during this prolonged period of anxiety and misinformation.

John will discuss:
• leveraging data to tell stories that generate media interest
• communicating effectively and raising consumer awareness of critical issues
• overcoming challenges of social distancing to build relationships with reporters and editors

John Novaria – Principal, Novaria Communication

John is a seasoned communications professional with deep experience in all facets of reputation management. He believes we are judged by our actions and words, and he works tirelessly to promote his clients’ value to their industries, stakeholders and to society. In his practice, he counsels clients in financial services, manufacturing and technology as well as nonprofits such as the Better Business Bureau.

John’s passion for communication was kindled during his “first career” as a TV journalist, where he developed a keen ability to ask penetrating questions and deliver context to viewers. His second career was at a public relations firm, where he tackled challenges presented by clients and developed strategies to influence the conversation and motivate audiences. For his third career, he was hired away by one of those clients and seamlessly transitioned to the world of corporate communications, where he worked at GE, Raytheon and Swiss Re, producing positive outcomes in an environment dominated by continual transformation, shareholder anxiety, regulatory crisis and client relations concerns.

John is currently based in the foothills west of Denver, but previously he lived in Los Angeles, where he served on the board of the Public Relations Society of America LA chapter.
