What do you get when you combine 17 OCPRSA PR pros, 13 PRSSA students and 15 representatives from 13 nonprofits and social impact organizations? Two huge rooms packed with positive energy and passionate people buzzing with innovative ideas and practical strategies for making a positive impact in Orange County.

That was the scene at OCPRSA’s PR Gives Back event held May 3, 2018, at OneOC in Santa Ana. The event, organized by OCPRSA’s Community Service Committee, offered the chance for PR pros and students to provide a complimentary public relations strategy session to worthy organizations to help advance their cause with sustainable and effective communication programs.

Conversations centered on the Public Relations Four-Step Process of research, planning, implementation and evaluation, and everything in between, including media relations, branding, crisis communications, website design, social media, internal communications, staffing, donor relations and special events.

Students from Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly Pomona contributed fresh ideas to the discussions and walked away with potential mentorship connections and internship opportunities.

The event was held in partnership with OneOC, an organization that provides volunteer, training, consulting and business services to nonprofits to help them become as efficient and effective as they are passionate about their missions.
